Rest in peace, my dear friend...

My dear friend Raji, popular as Miri of Peppermill, passed away this morning.

I still can't believe it...

She's been a wonderful friend for many many years and an inspiration for many things in life, including this blog.

Extremely positive, full of love and warmth and such an amazing person. Nothing ever got her down.
She was suffering from a rare condition, which did not let her eat for a year, but every time I visited her, she would cook something new, all this when she was not allowed to even taste it

For one of my birthdays, she sent me a set of hand-written recipes, which I will always treasure - its something so rare these days, where no one has the time or patience to sit down and write a few lines

My go-to person for so many things, we discussed about bringing up kids, books to read, food, recipes, developing patience, dealing with unreasonable people, everything...

In the last couple of months, she was really struggling with her health, but it did not stop her from being the thoughtful person that she is - she still remembered birthdays, always sent little gifts, she still cooked up a storm and posted it on her blog, never showed how much pain she was going thru...

She was so full of life, love, hope and positive energy

May her soul rest in peace and may God give her family the strength to carry on without her

Will miss you terribly Raji

I am absolutely reeling with shock. And frozen by sadness. So sorry for the loss of your friend, a loss for me and the food blogging world, and I can't even comprehend the loss for her little girl, husband and family.

Very shocking, I am regular visitor to her site. I cannot believe it. I pray for her family and especially for the little girl who lost her mom at this young age.

You were a special friend, indeed. Treasure those handwritten recipes for they are so very precious. Maybe when Kavya is older, you could give her a copy of her Mom's beautiful gift to you.

Raji was a gift to all of us. Her strength and ability to cope were awe inspiring. Much love and many hugs to you through this difficult time.

So sad to hear the news. Though I've never met her. I've heard so much about her from you through all these years. May her soul rest in peace and her family have the strength to bear this terrible loss. she'll be an angel watching them from above.

I am so shocked to hear this news. I couldn't believe that it's Miri of Peppermill you are talking about. Though I didn't know Miri personally, we had left occassional comments on each other's blogs. We both had started blogging around same time. I knew that she spent her childhood in Mumbai and she was familiar with my neighborhood. So she would leave a comment if I had blogged about any specific food item from that area. I had tried her "poee" recipe. I knew that she had lost her mom and she has a little daughter. I didn't know about her health issues at all. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Please convey my prayers and thoughts for her family. Her little daughter will be in my prayers. RIP Miri!
